The first day of the 2009 Unique Los Angeles holiday show was a great success! It was a blast spreading Sticker Sisters goodies, running into people and being inspired by talented designers, artists and indie businesses.
If you're anywhere near downtown Los Angeles, come on down tomorrow (Sunday, December 6th) for day two. We'll be there from 11am-6pm over by the photo booth. Check out all the details about the event at the Unique Los Angeles site.
So a lot of people give LA a bad rap, but it continues to amaze me.
Last year my Action Not Glamour t-shirts were flying off the table. This year I practically sold out of the Feminism Runs in My Family shirts I brought. And to think I almost didn't even bring those shirts to this event! Los Angeles you surprise me and make me really happy on days like today.
Speaking of running into friends and being inspired...
It's always great seeing my friend Wendy who runs I Heart Guts at shows. Check out The Good Ol' Menstrual Cycle poster and all the cute plush guts.
I also ran into my friend Melanie who I haven't seen in more than five years. It was fun to find out she's now making kids rock 'n roll clothes with her company Skullasstic Ink.
Across the aisle from the Sticker Sisters booth is janie xy who makes the cutest handmade plush food and creatures. She turned her booth into a little market stand complete with an awning!
The most amazing thing is that she's only been doing it for a couple months! Her handmade plush eggplant made me nostalgic for a stuffed eggplant toy I had when I was little. It seems strange to have had a stuffed eggplant toy as a kid, but I loved carting it around and I kind of want to pass along the tradition to another kid. Hey, it sure beats carting around a Bratz doll!
Okay, I've gotta rest up for another big day tomorrow. If you're in LA, come on by. If not, get out to an event in your area and support awesome, local small businesses and artists!

Hi Ariel! It was so great meeting you at Unique LA!! Thanks for the mention. :) Hope to see you at many more fairs! I had a blast at this one.
