Up in Flames

My mom’s house burnt down a few weeks ago. I just came back from visiting it. I’m so glad that most of the Sticker Sisters stuff is here with me now. A few rolls of stickers were destroyed, but most everything else is in Los Angeles with me or in storage.

It’s unbelievable how much was lost, but at least she has good insurance coverage.

While I was there I went through the burned house. All the debris had been cleared away so the house was empty. But the windows were boarded up so I had to search around with a flashlight. For the most part it was a wreck, but some of the smoke damage was actually gorgeous.

When I was leaving I found a Punk Rock Isn’t Just For Your Boyfriend button on the ground in the rubble. It was hardly damaged!

My books are some of my most prized possessions, but now pretty much all of my childhood books are gone. The first thing I had to replace was my Pippi Longstocking book collection. I’ve been searching for old Pippi books because I don’t like the modern illustrations.

Random Pippi Tidbit: People have gotten to the Sticker Sisters website because it came up in a search engine when they entered “naked Pippi pictures.” Weird, huh? There aren’t any naked Pippi pictures hidden on the site, I swear!
